Our team came second after losing (2-3) in a very close game to Three Kings School. This is a great result considering the team has only been together for a couple of weeks. Thanks to Mr Pickering, our parent coach, for giving up your time to come in and coach the team.

Hay Park School wins Zone Netball Competition.
Last week our students competed in the Zone Netball Competition - and we won! Way to go team!
On Thursday the 7th of August our Netball Teams competed in the zone competition. After 2 weeks of intensive coaching by Jenny Hurt and Mrs Galloway, we had an excellent result - with our A Team beating Mt Roskill Primary in the final to come first, and our B Team coming second. A fantastic result from our talented players. A big thank you to our excellent parent coach, Jenny Hurt. Thank you for giving up your time to help out.

Hay Park School Sculpture Walk.
At the beginning of Term 2 we unveiled our new Sculpture Walk. During Term 1, each class worked on a sculpture together to be displayed somewhere in the school. We went on a school trip to the Botanical Gardens to see the Sculpture Walk and get some ideas about materials and form. Classes were inspired by different artists and worked through a series of ideas before coming up with and constructing their final sculpture. All of our sculptures are made from recycled or found objects - this kept us in budget and made us think outside the box and be creative. We had a great turn out of whanau and friends at our official opening, with students at each sculpture to explain the ideas and techniques behind it.
A big thank you to Rachael Botica who curated our Sculpture Walk and helped us with inspiration, techniques, and sourcing materials.
You can take a look at the brochure we created below.
Take a look at our classes page to see a photo of each sculpture.
