Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori

This week each class has been focusing on Maori Language Week.

This is a time for all New Zealandars to celebrate te roe Maori and use more Maori phrases in everyday life.

Hay Park School celebrated all the language we had learnt by coming together in assembly and sharing what we had learnt!

Thank you to Matua Edwards who played a fun Quiz to challenge student knowledge.

Bikes for the Students

We are very grateful to have taken part in a kind donation by IAG, which saw 28 Hay Park School students getting new bikes and helmets.

The students and families enjoyed a trip to Eden Park. We got to see around the changing rooms and also we got to see the bikes being made with the teams from IAG. It was an amazing experience.

Big Hawks Vs Blue Hawks Netball Game

The students and staff took part in a fun netball game to help celebrate Margaret Aikman's last week as the Principal of Hay Park School.

The students had some strong words before the competition and they meant business on the netball court.

Ask the students who won the game.

Stardome Rockets

As part of our space concept the students had to design and make their own class rockets.

John from Stardome then came along with some scientific equipment to launch the rockets into the sky. He just used water and air, it was pretty awesome.

Ask the students who won the prizes for:

1. Best flight.
2. Best dress rocket.

The Mixed Hockey Tournament

On Tuesday 16th June the Year 5 and 6 students took part in the mixed Hockey Tournament and they came 2nd!

A big well done to the team and Barry (the coach) for all your hard work.

The Trip to the Stardome

This year the whole school is working really hard with science and we are part of the Curious Classroom project. As part of this project the students got to visit the Stardome for free!

The Juniors went and learnt more about Dinosaurs and Senior students learnt all about Matariki as part of their space concept.
