CELEBRATION TIME: The school’s Indian dance group performs.

Building Opening and Cultural Celebration

We were very pleased to bless and open our new building which houses our Staff Room, Library and a Modern Learning Environment - also known as a Classroom.
Our oldest and youngest students do the honour of cutting the ribbon.

All of our children came in cultural dress and shared cultural singing and dancing items with our school community. Once the formal part of the day was over, we had delicious food from food stalls set up by parents and whanau.

2014 Year 6 Graduation Celebration

Yesterday we celebrated our Year 6's graduating from primary school.
They had a graduation afternoon tea with whanau and other people who have helped them achieve all that they have during their time at Hay Park School, and they also shared some of their favourite memories and how HPS is special to them.

Kapa Haka

Every Friday the senior school works with the wonderful students from Waikowhai Intermediate School. The older students pass on their knowledge and support  to Hay Park School students in learning the Kapa Haka. It is great to be part of this experience and the students really enjoy learning something new.

A big THANK YOU to Roz Tuitama a teacher and Whaea Vicki  a parent from Waikowhai Intermediate School who help support the learning on the Kapa Haka.

Working With Hillsborough Kindergarten

Each Wednesday the Deputy Principal, Amanda Galloway, visits Hillsborough Kindergarten to work with students on early Literacy and Numeracy skills to help prepare them for starting school. This helps support the very successful transition programme for students into Hay Park School and helps students get off to a great start with their learning.

Ako Hiko Cluster Launch

This week 5 students went to talk to business men and women to promote their learning through the use of digital devices and help launch the Ako Hiko cluster to help raise funds to support the cluster of schools.

They had an amazing time and loved talking and meeting all of the business people. They were able to make conversation, ask questions to find out information and answer questions about their learning and the Chromebooks. They were awesome and great Smoooozing.

SNAG Golf

The first half of this Term our children are taking part in SNAG Golf in school. SNAG golf stands for Starting new at Golf.

The children are learning lots of new skills and really enjoy the challenge.
